Extinction Rebellion Porto, abbreviated as XR Porto, arose in September 2019 in Porto, Portugal, as part of the international non-violent civil disobedience movement against the mass extinction of species and the current existencial and ecological crises, Extinction Rebellion. We are currently focused on fighting against the passive attitude shown by our national government and we are trying to initiate real democratic processes, with the creation of Citizens’ Asssemblies, as well as taking action and demand that they tell us the truth about the climate, declare an ecological emergency, adopt legally binding political measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to net zero by 2030 and to reduce the levels of consumption.
